A busy holiday weekend!

What a wonderful surprise! We received a phone call from our friends in Georgia on Friday. They were headed home from visiting family in Michigan and were planning a quick stop in Nashville. We were so excited to get to see them! We first met in Russia five years ago as we were adopting Thomas and they were adopting their little girl, Marina. I can't believe it's been five years ago! We met at our local park to eat a quick dinner and let the kids have some fun on the playground. Mike and Kristen- thanks so much for taking time to stop and say hello!

Thomas and Marina in 2004 and now in 2009.

Happy 4th of July! On Saturday we headed out for a big cookout with my family. We had a great time and ate way too much food! Thomas loved playing with all the kids, jumping on the trampoline, riding his scooter, learning how to play badmittion, and most of all riding the 4-wheelers! He rode one time, ONLY one time, by himself. After I about had heart failure, it was decided he needed an adult rider with him! He just couldn't understand why he shouldn't ride at full speed continuously! I was able to snap one picture before I realized he had no intentions of slowing down. We had planned to go to the park to watch the fireworks display but about 8:00pm we had a terrible storm move through and actually had a tornado warning issued. Thomas went to bed a little disappointed but he still had sparklers to burn the next day.

On Sunday, Nanny and Papaw Jesse came down to spend the night. We were so happy to have them here with us. Thomas showed off his scooter riding skills and finally got to burn his sparklers! I think Abby was just getting used to them both went they left on Monday! Nanny- you forgot to take some banana pudding with you!

It was a busy weekend, but we felt so blessed to have family and friends to share it with! Thomas really had a great time visiting with everyone. We hope eveyone had a great holiday!
